The Flat

Dennis and I decided to rent a flat near Adriel and Joel's while in England as I know he gets all balled up in knots in small quarters. It was just a short walk... according to Adriel...and we had our large suitcases and me in my 4 inch heels... up and down the hills of Brighton.

Adriel was pushing Violet in her stroller and we were all hopping on and off the bus. When we finally arrived, the place actually had an elevator (lift if you are from here) and not too many steps. I am always amazed at the tight quarters...the lift itself was a mini version of anything I've ever been in. It held Adriel and her stroller and two people, me and some guy on the next floor who thought he wanted to ride along.
Anyway, there are doors separating everything, heavy fire doors, as I am it's code as all these buidlings and flats, etc. are fire traps. But, the place turns out to be a lovely little place. Decorated all Ikea like and we can see the ocean from the kitchen window. The large picture window overlooks the city. Good choice.

Well, I had a hard time falling asleep, so I chose to sleep on the couch with the lovely city lights shining through the huge picture window. It was so lovely, I just wanted to take it all in. Well, when I awoke at about 2:39 a.m. I thought I'd better go to bed. Well, I used the bathroom and the lock on the bathroom door fell off.

So, I stumble about to bed and grope around to find Dennis laying where I was going to...I felt my way to the other side, lay down and there's a huge sink hole in the mattress. I told Dennis the bed is broken and he had no idea. Well, I groped my way back to the living room couch which is about 10 inches too short to stretch completely out on. And now, it's 5 a.m. Brighton time and I have decided to blog since I can't sleep. Oh, well...still love the city lights of Brighton shining in the window. Oh, and there's someone outside yelling....

Tomorrow I will report the damages to the people here and see what the decide to do. Yikes. I don't want to find another place to stay.
NOTE: Dennis fixed the bed by moving around the wooden slats under the mattresses. Apparently they slide. Well, I called the housekeepers and they said since nothing was broken, they would come and fix it. hmmm...
Tomorrow is the big 1 b day party. More later.

Joel borrowed me duck tape to fix the bed. The slats were a little short so if they moved sideways they fell off. Now, they will not move.
