Final Words On My Trip To Brighton

I enjoyed being in Brighton for the better part of December again. The weather for the most part was actually sunny. I didn't think I'd need my sunglasses, but I did! I enjoyed bonding with Violet. Enjoyed Adriel and Joel and their friends too. I even had a chance to have Violet for the night, just her and I, while Joel and Adriel got a welcome night away alone, compliments of their friends in Brighton. What a great testimony to how much these two are loved by the people they meet. It doesn't surprise me, as I think they are both great. But it warms my heart to see the love the church people and the ministry friends have for Adriel and Joel and of course Violet.

I experienced a harrowing blizzard in Brighton the night before I was to leave. Fortunately for me the trains were running as well as the planes. They were each late, but at least I made it out of the country. Not that it would have killed me to stay mind you. But what a headache.

Dennis and I stayed at two different places while there, one was better than the other. When he left I stayed at Adriel and Joels. Their little place accommodates me well. I just settle right in and it's very comfy. Except the showers. I really don't get the shower situation in England. One would think the Brits don't like to bathe, but I know that's not true. They have showers, but often they are those hand held mechanisms and the water pressure coming out makes you feel as if you should run in circles to get completely wet. Anyway, the shower doors go half way...yes. Half way. I am not sure why or the reasoning behind this except being meant to just  piss Americans off. The purpose in an enclosed shower door is that it holds the heat and water in. They have not gotten that concept at all. It certainly would be an improvement if they would fix this for me.

I love the Cornwall Pasties. I had to have one first thing upon arriving in England. They are flakey pastrie with beef onions and gravy inside. They have stands that sell these dandies called Cornwall Pasties... I should have had another before I left, but I got a little flak from Adriel. It appears you shouldn't eat them for breakfast... well, i figure if they're selling them at breakfast time, i can eat them. But, they are a lunch dish I am sure. I just like them any time of day.

We went to a small town to the east of Brighton called Lewes. It was where Ann Cleve was from, one of Henry VIII's wives. Her house was closed for the season, but we were able to go into the castle there. Quite fun to see it. From the top of the castle you could see for miles, which of course was the point of it as if enemies were approaching they could be spotted. It was beautiful, rolling green hills and lots of farm land.

Well, anyway back to the important stuff. Violet is learning to walk. So I videoed her attempts. Also, we took a walk to the sea one morning, we ate Chinese crap and shopped together the night Adriel and Joel went off to the hotel. Adriel and I shopped a lot and we had a great dinner at a very nice seafood restaurant in the Lanes. They were so good to Violet there, and it surprised us because many nice places don't have accommodations for babies. This one went above and beyond.

It was a great time altogether. I enjoy Brighton, the kids and of course: Our little Violet Joy!
