My obsession with the Titanic
I have been obsessed with the Titanic since I was in grade school.
I remember seeing an earlier black and white movie when I was about 11 or so. My mom and I watched it, not sure if anyone else was there. The terror and horror has stayed with me all these years and most likely contributed to my fear of drowning. Well, in my mind everyone should have a fear of drowning.
Anyway, this exhibit was great and before I went two dear people in my life spoiled it for me. They both told me about how great the exhibit was... and they told me that upon entering the exhibit you are given a boarding pass with the name of one of the passengers. Upon disembarking, if that's what you want to call it... you are told if you survived or not. POWERFUL... GREAT MRKETING IDEA.
Well... my boarding pass had the name of the lovely and honorable Anna .... a young woman, a missionary to India. (Go figure). She had gone there and was building a school for the girls, as the girls in India didn't go to school. She had been teaching the girls and establishing a school... when she learned her mother was ill...She had a second class ticket...and was going home to be with her sick and dying mother...
She didn't make it.

So how was the exhibit!?! Did you love it? Beside the part where your boarding pass person died.
well... ok. I liked the movie a lot. There were a lot of nuts and bolts plucked from the ocean bottom in glass cases to be honest. They had a few actors who entertained us with dialogue and historical antecdotes. Truthfully... nothing that I had not seen before. Learned the titanic movie was quite an actual depiction of it all... except the fictional romance and well...who can forget the erotic scene on the couch.
