Saturday in Globe

Globe Trotters.

Globe: That's a funny name for a town in the middle of the mountains of Arizona. It's near Miami and Superior. Who names these towns, anyway? Globe by the way is a big copper mining town. As is Miami. It's rumored they found a huge vien of copper deep underground, the largest in the world, so infrastructure is being built for a modern day gold rush. New roads through the mountains to boot. Copper mines add $19 b to the Arizona economy. Jobs are up because of the mines. Not to mention the fact that the Arizona supplies 60% of the nation's copper. Copper is used for lots of stuff we use... Albeit, the destruction to the mountains and the views is devastating and I don't like it from that perspective as I drive through the mountains in my fancy Corvette. It's easy to not like it from that perspective. From the perspective of the people living in squallor, needing jobs in Miami Arizona, I imagine it's a pretty nice view. So for now, till they discover a better way to mine copper, the people need the jobs and the world needs copper. So, there you go. Now you have your copper lesson.

The strip of antique stores in Miami are bound to benefit, especially Cowgirl Antiques. Annie may get to put down her gun if there's more people around. (See photo) The woman was packin' heat.

If you saw the town, you would understand.
