Hazards In The Kitchen
I've always thought the kitchen is a danger to the human race... well, mostly to me. Especially if you have a cupboard that is higher than your head and you store things in it. Even though, as it is not handy for daily accessibility, it is a great place to store seldom used items. I keep my summer porch glasses (aptly called tumblers) in it, and they are stacked three high. The trouble is sometimes you need to get things that are stored behind the tumblers...like a roast pan. So, while reaching into this hazardous area, the glasses are bound to tumble (they are tumblers after all) right down on your face, bounce off your head, hit your glasses so hard you bruise the bridge of your nose. @#$@&@!.
Worse part is it was SuperBowl Sunday... I am sure I would look like I was beat by a beer drinking football husband. Hard to tell someone that without sounding like I was making up a story that a wayward tumbler fell on my face. But, I was spared.
Did I mention I prepared a mean duck breast? Your dad brought home some duck breasts from his Mexico hunt and he expected me to actually make a meal with them. He was all excited. I was wondering how one prepares wild duck and remembered we had some wild game cookbooks in the house. I found the duck recipes, many of them having to do with fruit, and put together 2 tbsp of dried red onion, garlic and turkey spice (because I had it in the house) and pepper spice of some kind. I sauteed that in olive oil, added 1/2 cup of raspberry jelly, lime juice and cooked it for a while. Dad cleaned the duck breasts, and I lightly coat them in flour mixed with turkey spices and pepper and fry in olive oil. Make wild rice mixed with jasmine rice. Serve the duck with a bit of sauce over it along with rice. NUMMY.

actually I pile the dishes up high so that some of them are always leaning into one cupboard door. This makes for fun week-ends. The duck breast were great. We have some more that we wil have to cook up. Jada ate the rest of them so I never got seconds. Dang
the fried duck was really good and I loved the rasberry sauce on it- and it surprised me that I loved the sauce, in which I normally dont like fruit- based sauces on meats..yummy yummy mother
