A voice from the past
OK. I was driving my convertible to Sandy and Ed's new house and took the Camp Verde exit. There was a huge mother truck behind me driving very close... and all I could see were his grill and headlights in my rear view mirror. I couldn't pass the slow morans ahead of me, so I just stayed put and waited like all 30 of us in a line.
When I got to Cottonwood, I had mistakenly gotten in the wrong lane to turn to Sandy and Ed's house. I put on my blinker and hoped for some kind soul to let me in to make the turn. Well, there it was... a small honk and the big mother truck stopped long enough to let me in.
My first thoughts had a note of familiarity to them..."Oh, isn't that nice. Truckers are so nice aren't they. They're always so nice."
The words just flowed out and then I remembered why those lines sounded familiar.
Didn't Thelma say those very words early on on her trip with Louise just before she shot a hole in the tires truckers rig? Not long before she shot an air hole in the trunk?
Also, when I came home tonight after dark about 9 p.m., I pulled into our driveway and low and behold a javelina was there eating the flowers in our landscaping. It was the size of a small dog and fearless. Three cars pulled in behind me and it didn't budge.
Interesting...
