Jama Jama Rides Again

Had a great time with Lasha and Joe's kids this past weekend. They asked me to cover for them as they scoped out KC, their new hometown. I got in Wednesday night and stayed till Sunday. Busy time for me at work, but because of my able staff, I was at ease knowing the responsibilities of our annual Customer Appreciation Days was well under control. Heck, I even got an order for 10,000 gift cards while I was on jama jama duty.
The trip stared out badly enough. I was just on time... or thought i was and then came to find out Air Tran was missing. My favorite airline moved to Hubert Humphrey terminal. So, instead of getting in my car and parking there, I decided it might be a bit faster to just take the tram then the light rail. WRONG>
The tram was fine, but then you have to take the light rail, which the insruction say you need to get a ticket out of the vending machine at the top of the 30 foot escalator. I went back up and put in a $20 bill. I wanted one ticket and change. I got $20 worth of light rail tokens. SHIT.
So, i piled them in my bag...while at the same time losing my blue tooth ear piece. SHIT. So, i get on the light rail and am informed there are no tickets needed inter airport rides. SHIT. So, the light rail drops you off three or four blocks at least from Hubert Humphrey. You are guided through tunnels and empty parking ramps for blocks and blocks. I kid you not. SHIT. So, when I finally get there my flight leaves i one half hour. I get my boarding pass as it wouldn't let me get it ahead of time and go through security. I remember I have a new jar of carmex and a new bottle of lupriderm in my bag. SHIT. So I start to unload and the federal worker offers to take the lupriderm... Of couse she does.
My lip gloss, Carmex, and lotion down the shitter.
Not a great start to my trip... but hey, I'm still cool. Dropped a few F bombs in frustration, but quickly recovered.
I was not exactly prepared for taking care of small children 24/7. It involved running noses, doctor visits, medical treatment, runs to the pharmacy, numerous viewings or Fantastic 4 and corn dogs, pizza, macaroni and cheese.
Ava has an incompetent doctor who diagnosed an ear infection and his staff forgot to call in a prescription. It was the weekend so I had to take her to yet another doctor who would diagnose that indeed she had an ear infection and call in the antibiotic. FTLOM. I was right once again. Ear Infection. She was pulling on her ears... not hard to figure that out.
Anyway... she is on the mend thank to lots of sleep... days of long lazy naps. It was just what Doctor Jamajama ordered.
Gabriel was in heaven. He looked so proud when I came to get him from school. Very cute. He got to eat what he wanted, play Powerrangers on the computer, watch his favorite films over an over and over again.
It was great. He is a fun kid to be with... Although it took him an hour to eat my fried chicken, mashed potatoes, salad and bread sunday dinner. What's wrong with that kid. Not enough sodium and preservatives I am sure. Probably tasted foreign to him.
Ava found jama jama's underwear and pulled them over her head. Thank goodness they were clean. Gabe was a bit concerned. I said let her have them. Like father like daughter...
Well, Saturday I called the local cab company. Area Cab. I asked for a cab to pick me up at 2:30 Sunday to take me to the airport. So... there was a cab in the driveway promptly at 2:30...a.m. Honking. They called my cell wondering where I was, they called the house wondering why I wasn't getting in the cab. Percy was barking, Gabe was crying, I was running for Joe's guns. What the heck? I answered the call and said I need a cab 2:30 p.m.... not a.m.
OH boy. I didn't sleep hardly at all any night. Was restless, a bit leary of the neighborhood... etc. etc.
Lasha assured me i was safe, but you know the active mind. It's like my fear of bears... very irrational... but hey... guess you just have to take charge. Something I was too tired to do after watching a sick toddler and a five year old all day.
I am presently at the airport. Flight is running a bit late because of a storm that just blew through.
I enjoyed the time... even with all that. But it will be good to be home.
After weddings and road trips and nursing sick babies... I'm a little tired.

Wow!
I heard you did an awesome job taking care of Ava and Gabe. They had so much fun hanging with you. I hear Gabe is still talking about it.
