Mothers Day

All the hype to honor mothers on a certain day rings a bit sour to me. Why not just treat them nicely every day?
Remember when my little essay got printed in USA Today? Talked about mothers being heroes. A little gushy and defensive in retrospect, but true nonetheless. Most moms are great.
I have a new one. After 30 years, I asked the women formally known by me as Doris if I could call her Mom. She said sure. (A real Mom would never deny you that) So, now I try to remember although it's a hard habit to break calling her Doris, but I correct myself when I remember.
And now, I am not the only mother in our family. There are three of them to share the day with now. Not to mention my own mother, mother in law and grandmother.
