Cleaned My Part of Earth...How Bout You?

Shammi was here over night. When he got up I told him I was going to clean the porch and the pool area and he got more excited than I've ever seen anyone get over cleaning. He really enjoys cleaning. His folks clean every saturday and he loves to help apparently.

It was hot today as it has been the last month. Looks as if our climate has changed and we are about a month ahead. Who knows if this is because we have been careless with our resources or a natural trend. We could be at fault, but for me, I spent my day spring cleaning the portion of earth I have a mortgage on.

It's Earth Day just in case you want something to celebrate. http://www.earthday.gov/index.htmhtm

I try to be a good steward and I seriously think it's important to do what we can to take care of what we've been given. So, I hired Jada to weed my gardens.
I do however admit that I spent the day blowing leaves with a gas powered blower and sucking dust with an electicity powered vacuum. Both are small pieces of equipment, and in the big scheme of things can hardly damage much. All I know is I was exhausted with my efforts. I did have thoughts as I blew leaves around the propane tank that heats our pool of seriously using solar heat instead of propane. The investment in a wind generator to provide electricity for running the homestead has also crossed my mind these day. So--vindication.

As a land owner, I do think about caring for my piece of this earth more than I let on. However, for today, I thought long and hard about my flower gardens and other landscaping that will involve planting a tree or three. I will soon be pulling out bushes and trees from their roots as I re-landscaped around the house. I will however kill weeds with weed killer (will seriously try to find one that is easy on what it touches.) But I seriously have no pity when thinking of how to exterminate mercilessly all those damn lady bugs that multiply like rabbits and invade my house.

So all in all, for all those concerned over the earth, global warming and the environment, my day would be considered a mixed bag. I did get lots of cleaning done, though and we all ended up enjoying the warm weather.

In the last photo....does Shammy have on two different shoes or am I just dreaming here. Does the kid not have any pride? I do like the shark glass best. Hey did you see the strong arms on the jades? no wonder nobody wants to fight her.
