All In A Day's Work

Got home from work at a little after 7. Nothing so great about that I suppose. Called home to see what was on for supper, found out Dennis made himself a salmon sandwich. Salmon from a can with mayo. YUK. I wanted to try a new recipe of chicken breast stuffed with spinach, tomatos, mushrooms onions artichoke and feta cheese. So that's what I did. Enjoyed it alone.

My days go much like this and I am at a place where boredom rules. Same ole, same ole. I am trying to ignore this as I know it's much about all of our kids being gone after a whole lifetime (so far) of activity and chaos and sudden departure of each one.

So, here are a few random thoughts about life. I say it quite well really in a short story I am writing. A woman is driving her last daughter to college and realizes she has a choice to not live the rest of her life looking in the rear view mirror. Well, this creates quite a bit of inner conflict, as she really has no idea what she wants the rest of her life to look like... and on it goes. You have to read the story to learn the end.

Well, on the way to work this week, I was pondering my marriage along these lines. I would consider it above average, yet I feel we've missed some signficant elements along the way. One being a courtship, ours was like fast forwarding from teenage years to midlife; two being spending time alone together as young married couple getting to know ourselves and each other. For many young people this involves getting to know ourselves as adults and making decisions on what life to choose. We of course moved quickly into parenting, being kids ourselves. Not that this course is regrettable by any means, or uncommon or even undesirable. It just was, but now I am wondering what I may have missed along the way. In any case, it came to me how fun it would be to spend the next 5-10 years on a redo. We could have a do over of our 20s.

That might be kind of fun actually. Now i just have to figure out what that means and to get some buy in from you know who.
