2 hour wait for valentine dinner

Like usual, our Valentine was not. We never think ahead... have to work on that... but the place we wanted to eat was booked, imagine that at 5:30 on Valentines day the joint was full... well, so then we decided on Timberlodge. The lady wanted some raw red meat. So, we visited with a fellow employee and her husband. She and her husband moved from Eugene Or. Rather, they escaped. It was really way OUT THERE for them. Politically. They escaped to normal. Imagine, Minnesota, the land of Wellstone and The wrestler governor being considered Normal. Well, there must be other reasons. Anyway, we had a fun time talking.

We saw quite a few other people we knew. Janet Salk. Dr. Janet Salk, Dr. of Dr. Richard Salk with Tom Baumgartner. Son of Dr. Baumgartner. Our history goes way back. We grew up in the same town. Janet's siblings, there were 11 of them taught me how to smoke dope. It was the summer I wen to Peru when their oldest brother Jim came back from Vietnam with pot. I say this without really knowing it's true. It's actually just rumor. Dope was starting to arrive in small towns. i don't know who brought it to the Salks. I will say this tho...Dr. Salk's kids told us he gave them pills to make them tan better. They gave them to us freely and who knows if they worked. We just assumed they made us darker in the sun. I had my first joint with their siblings. I had friends from that family from 3 years older than me to 3 years younger. Corrine would be commissioned to go buy groceries for supper and would run into me somewhere (probably buying a loaf of bread from Thelen's Groceries) and she'd pick me up and we'd drive around North Lake a few times and have a cigarette. She taught me how to smoke. She was a senior, I a freshman. Janet was my sister's age. We hung out. My sister dormed with her in college. We've stayed close. She by the way is the most crass woman I know. She said FUCK for effect long before anyone else even dared think it. I always enjoyed her inspite of that. Her brother Steve was my age. He was my counterpart in the school play when we were seniors. He and I had the lead part. We had to kiss. The play was Picnic and I was Popular actress. blond bombshell. i don't remember and he was william holden. Actor. I know for a fact he didn't kiss anything like William Holden. Sloppy waterey mushy lips. Yuck. However, Terry... not a sibling or Salk... my lover in the play... now he could kiss. I still remember it. WOWZi
I digress.

Back to the Salks. When I left home, i am embarrassed to say I wrote them a letter and told them how much I appreciated them. They were a big part of my life and like family.
Well, that's a little or a lot over the top. Maybe. Considering my family maybe not.

But, anyway, they had 12 kids, a housekeeper, dad was the town doctor along with Dr. Baumgartner.
He had at least 10 kids and I was friends with Mary and Debbie. Debbie was Corrine's age and that class was brutal to us Freshmen. She took my Friend and I out to the country in her car and told us she was going to drop us off and make us walk home for Freshman Initiaition.

She was just playing with us.

We were scared shitless.

She's a kick even today. Fun loving. Mary is too. All of them are great people. Tom, the one with Janet Salk, Dr. Janet Salk Dr because of teaching, not medicine... is a stock broker of some sort.

Janet and I golfed together about 5 years ago consistently. She had back issues and had to slow down.
By the way. She went to Equador as an exchange student the same time I went to Peru. She fell in love iwth her host brother. I found alove too. Johnny Salaz Ramirez. Wonder where he is today sometimes and if he's still a hot latino.

Anyway, Jante and I have always had a bond.

Janet and I have a sort of fun relationship because we don't expect anyting of each other, but enjoy each other.
She got her Doctorate and I am very proud of her.
She's dating the Dr's son who piereced my ears when Iwas in 9th grade. I think he was the same doctor who looked me over when I had a bad stomach ache and determined it was the girdle I was wearing, not appendicitis.

A sixth grader in a girdle. That's what we did then. They didn't want to wait for two hours to have a steak. We exhanged greetings and they left. It was fun to see them. It always is. Shes' dated the other doctor's son now for at least five years. Janet's divorced. So is Tom. Who knows if they will make it work. they must like each other.

Anyway... we had a nice valentines. Both of us are looking forward to vacation this next week. i never take one.

We waited for 2 hours for a table. Was fine actually. We never just hang out anywhere....
As we are going on vacation soon, my employee told me to put on some fishnet stockings, let my hair down and have some fun for once.
Do you think I should maybe have a moment of soul searching to see that I am a bit too intense for my own and everyone around me's good? A reality check.

Reading: Steve Brusk (sp) some fantasy book. Will let you know. Listening to Tori Amos. Does she really hate God? How can anyone hate God? It's like saying you hate the sun. Or tomorrow. Or a sunny afternoon. Or the blue sky after a storm.

Fun trip down memory lane. As a kid, I used to love listening to you tell stories about your childhood.
Yeah, Tori Amos hates G-d. Probably becuase she was raised uber religious, then got raped and blamed it on G-d.

Comment to a comment. I could hear she hates God. I was at first offended.
Then, I thought, she has many people who listen to her and feel the same way... I felt such compassion for her... really did. We need to pray for her...I know she is in such pain she can't stand it.
